What Are The Major Differences Between A Laptop And A Netbook?

I’m thinking of purchasing a netbook because my laptop broke and it would be so much cheaper to buy a little netbook rather than a new laptop. Can anyone give me some examples of things you can’t do with a netbook that a laptop is capable of doing? Thanks in advance, this will be really helpful in my decision.
P. S. I’m a college student also, so I will definitely be writing papers and such.
