Lenovo N500 Laptop Only Shows A Black Screen When I Start It Up?

I have just purchased a Lenovo n500 notebook and installed another ram stick to make it 2gb. I have all the connections set up, like the battery, and the power cord. I go to turn the laptop on, but only a black screen shows up. The lights on the keyboard show up, but nothing else. I’ve even tried to use the screen brightness but that didn’t work either.
Is this even a good brand?

I have a toshiba laptop that uses windows vista. Somehow my computer got messed up and when i turn my laptop on now it doesnt start windows. Does anyone know how i can fix this and get my laptop to open windows again? Thank you!

I have been running a paticular game on my laptop for a while now and only recently have had a problem that when i open the game, the laptops display brightness is reduced, even when i close the app, or alt-tab out the brightness does not restore, however removing and and then adding a usb device restores the brightness. My power management is set to off, so i dont understand why this is happening.

Just got a new HP Laptop, brand new, with windows Vista. The first time I used the whole battery, the battery died, and the machine just shut off and lost all of my data. My old laptop would hibernate when the battery died (saving all my data). How do I change this setting? Is there something wrong with my laptop?

My laptop just stopped working I changed the battery and ac cord, but still not charging. Appears that I have to replace the whole damn mother board. Its an old laptop and I dont want to invest a penny, so how do I transfer all my daughters videos to another laptop?
