ROVE R2-4K Dash Cam Built-in WiFi 6 GPS Car Dashboard Camera Recorder with UHD 2160P, 2.4" IPS Screen, 150° Wide Angle, WDR, Night vision
I recently discovered this and decided to purchase it. There are no Japanese reviews or ratings available anywhere, so this might be the very first one. It's advertised as capable of 4K shooting, but the actual resolution is up to 2880x2160 at 24fps, with a bitrate of 24,666kbps (3MB/s per second). Recording one minute requires 180MB, and oneGB can be used for approximately six minutes. This is almost double the capacity needed compared to the 14Mbps recording in full HD. This isn't just about this dash camera, but using high-end, durable MLC SD cards designed for dash cameras is essential to avoid failure within a few months. The quality is outstanding and seems to surpass previous standards, even compared to the DrivePro 230 and 70mai 1S. It delivers top-level quality, including readability of license plates even in dimly lit areas. It also includes GPS and speed tracking, along with a complete feature set. The menu is localized in Japanese, and there are voice guides as well. the ability to disable voice and switch to mechanical sounds is a subtle but welcome feature. The main drawback, though, is the use of a miniUSB port, which feels outdated in 2023.Given that Type-C would be ideal, even MicroUSB would have been a more reasonable compromise. Despite this, the camera stands out for its exceptional quality and value. The current pricing is highly likely a temporary promotion, as it's priced significantly lower in the US (around $120) compared to Japan. This is an amazing deal, and the only downside is the miniUSB port.
Considering the point about the port, the overall performance as a dash camera is highly extraordinary, making it a worthwhile purchase at this price point. The sale is probably a one-time offer, but for a 4K dash camera with such clarity and features, it's nearly flawless.
