Our Initiate Journey with The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour: season 3
I recently purchased this 4 DVD set, and it's a fantastic journey back to the煤炭60s variety show era. The collection includes 11 episodes from the third season of The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour, presented exactly as they were originally aired, uncensored. The guest list is amazing, featuring legends like George Carlin,Bob Newhams,Steve Martin, and Jackie Mason, alongside comedic geniuses Jonathan Winters and David Steinberg. Musical stars such as The Doors, Ike & Tina Turner, Donovan, and Ray Charles also make appearances, making this set a treasure trove for fans of the era.
The episodes are well-preserved in color and span over 14 hours of entertainment. The box set even includes performances by The cast of Hair and Liberace, adding a diverse mix of comedy and music. It’s impressive how the show managed to blend sharp wit with cultural commentary, all while maintaining a balanced variety of performances. The only drawback is that the content isn’t rated, which might be a consideration for some viewers.
