I recently discovered this and decided to purchase it. There are no Japanese reviews or ratings yet, so this might be the first one. It claims 4K recording, but the actual resolution is up to 2880x2160 at 24fps with a bitrate of 24,666 kbps, recording at 3 MB/s per second. This means 180 MB per minute or approximately 6 minutes per GB. compared to 14 Mbps in full HD, it requires nearly double the storage. This applies to most dash cams – without high-end, durable MLC SD cards for recording, they might start failing within a few months. The video quality, despite the high resolution, seems like the best I've seen so far.I've used models like DrivePro 230 and 70mai 1s, but the ROVE R2-4K blows them away. Even in poorly lit areas, license plates are readable. it comes with GPS and a speedometer, and while the functionality is top-notch, the menu language is in Japanese. There's also an option to disable audio guidance and switch to mechanical sounds or silent mode, which is surprisingly useful. The device is currently on a 3,000 yen coupon, likely as it's new to the Japanese market and being sold at a discount.In the US, it's priced around $120, so this deal seems too good to be true. The only drawback I find unavoidable is the use of miniUSB, which feels outdated in 2023. Ideally, it should at least support microUSB. Despite this, the overwhelming video quality and value for money make it a worthwhile purchase. This price is probably only available for a limited time, but for a dash cam offering near 4K resolution, excellent quality, and full features at this price, it's hard to complain.
